The Trans Morph
The translucent, or "trans" gene is also a recessive gene similar to the hypo gene, it is most commonly recognized by it's tendency for solid black eyes and gummy translucent scales, (although there are a number of animals without the solid black eyes that display trans characteristics)
Translucent bearded dragons are exactly that, their scales are lacking the reflective cells and white pigment, giving them a gummy translucent effect. The better the trans the more gummy the look.
Trans nowadays tend to be the most colorful bearded dragons you can purchase, being that the trans gene allows the color to come out more so than with a normal bearded dragons scales. high end trans with lots of color tend to have a glow to them. Some trans do lose a bit of their color as they age.
Being recessive the trans gene works in a similar way to the hypo gene, however, we do not recommend pairing a trans dragon with a trans dragon unless they are from very distant lines. Many genetic problems have been seen when this was done.
